It’s taken years, but it looks like the record labels are finally figuring it out. Warner has just added their entire digital music catalog to the Amazon mp3 store, and it’s all completely DRM free. In other words, no copy protection. Why did it take this long for them to figure out that they can’t stop piracy, and by trying they are only hurting people who actually are honest and pay for content? If I buy a song on iTunes, I want to be able to play it on not just my iPhone but also through Windows Media Center. If I want several copies of it on different computers, I should have the freedom to do that. After all, I bought the music, so I should be able to do what I want with it right? That’s why I buy my music from Amazon’s mp3 store whenever possible.
When it’s not possible is when it’s on the Sony/BMG label. They are the only label left that does not offer DRM free music, but I can’t imagine that will last very long. Until they give in as well, I’ll buy their music on iTunes, burn it to CD, then rip it back in DRM free. There’s always a way around copy protection, and it can never be stopped. I’m thrilled the record companies finally are getting it. Hey Motion Picture Association! You paying attention?

I’ve finally caught up after being a late comer to Dexter on Showtime. I bought season 1 from Amazon Unbox and ordered Showtime and caught up on season 2 thanks to Showtime on demand. It always sucks when your friends who watch the same shows as you do are ahead of you. It usually results in someone screaming “Whoa! Whoa! I haven’t seen it yet!!!” That person will no longer be me. If that’s you, you better stop reading now.
Sergeant Doakes has some serious issues. The worst part is he’s not as crazy as he appears to everyone. He is hot on Dexter’s trail, but Lieutenant Laguerta just thinks he’s losing it after having shot two people on duty. I seriously thought that Dexter was going to snap when he found Doakes listening to the archive tape of Harry interviewing his mother. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if at some point these two either start throwing punches or Dexter kills him. He’s already killed one person who found out who he was, why stop there?
It sounds like Agent Lundy is on to Dexter too, even though he told Debra he was trying to avoid Masuka rather then stick close to Dexter. That might have lead me to believe him if he didn’t follow that up with asking Debra if his brother would be around tomorrow. Can the sexual tension between Lundy and Debra get any thicker? Or is it just an act by Lundy to get closer to Dexter?
I’ve been rooting for Dexter to dump Rita for Lila ever since she practically had an orgasm when Dexter showed her the morgue full of bodies. Bodies of people he had killed no less, although she doesn’t know this. Then again, there’s something about Lila that she’s hiding. Much more to her then meets the eye. Lila and Dexter are a prefect match, which only means trouble for them in future episodes.
Is pulling a fire alarm to clear a building so you can erase a video tape showing you cleaning your boat of all traces of blood really plausible? This is a police station. Are they that easily fooled? I know he looked for video cameras before pulling the alarm, but I would think a police station would have cameras in every corner. This is either merely a convenient plot resolution, or we’ll find out in a later episode that someone saw him erase the file.
Once again Dexter doesn’t disappoint me. For the first time though, I actually have to wait a week to see the next episode!
