This is all kinds of awesome! Got this press release today from Fox 23:
It’s an “Homarge” to The Simpsons!
In anticipation of the famous family’s 20th Anniversary, FOX is launching
The Simpsons Scavenger Hunt.
Alert your listeners: this November, they’ll see an unprecedented campaign in FOX prime. Never before have so many shows participated in this kind of cross-promotion.
From November 9th-15th, look for clues and character references from The Simpsons to appear in everything from Bones to House (and a ton of shows in between). Guest stars, names, faces, places… all that you love about Springfield will be scattered throughout each night.
Viewers will then get the chance to say what they saw on www.thesimpsons.com. Instant winners will be chosen daily and at the end of the week, one lucky viewer will win the grand prize. Now that’s something fans can really get into.

It will never happen, but boy would I love to see it! “Moment of Truth” is the new Fox game show where people are hooked up to lie detectors to win cash. They’ve sent an invitation for Roger Clemens to be on the show. It would be a HUGE ratings winner for Fox to get Roger Clemens and ask him if he used steroids. He could walk away with $500,000 for his favorite charity, which I would assume is SUA – Steroid Users Anonymous.

I originally told myself that the Writer’s Guild strike wouldn’t be that bad. It would give me a chance to catch up on shows that I am behind on or are just being told I should watch like The Shield and Weeds. I forgot all about Jack, Chloe, and the promise return from the dead of Tony Almeida.
Well now Fox has announced that they are putting the premiere of 24 on hold "indefinitely" until the strike is resolved. The reasoning is they want to air season 7 uninterrupted. Makes sense, but now who knows how long I’ll have to wait to find out how they plan to bring back a dead guy.
I don’t think that the writer’s are really getting a lot of sympathy from television watchers. Most people don’t belong to unions and can’t strike. Most people consider themselves lucky to even have a job. If I wanted more money and decided to stop working to negotiate a contract, there’d be a thousand people waiting to take my job, and my employer would hire one in a heartbeat.
On the other hand, the TV production companies do make a ton of cash off these shows, even more so with DVD sales. They should share the wealth, but greedy corporations are like two year olds who haven’t learned the word share yet.
I can see both sides of this, but until these two parties hammer it out, I’ll be catching up on TV I’ve missed and watching some good video podcasts.
