I hate Rosie O’Donnell, but I love Password. The classic game show is returning to TV on June 1st on CBS in a million dollar version, because of course this is the 21st century and a piddly $5000 just ain’t gonna cut it anymore.
Regis Philbin hosts and some guests will be obnoxious Rosie, Tony Hawk, and Betty White, because you can’t play Password without Betty. Why can’t you play Password without Betty? She was married to the late Allen Ludden host of the original Password.
Take a look at Rosie (if you can stand her) shooting some video during her taping of Million Dollar Password, and then take a look at Allen Ludden hosting the best version of Password ever done, Password Plus.

It will never happen, but boy would I love to see it! “Moment of Truth” is the new Fox game show where people are hooked up to lie detectors to win cash. They’ve sent an invitation for Roger Clemens to be on the show. It would be a HUGE ratings winner for Fox to get Roger Clemens and ask him if he used steroids. He could walk away with $500,000 for his favorite charity, which I would assume is SUA – Steroid Users Anonymous.

According to TV Show On DVD, The Best of The Price is Right will be released by BCI on March 25th. This will be the mother of all DVD sets to add to my collection. If you know me, I’m a huge with a capital H fan of The Price Is Right, and this set is going to be a Price lovers dream!
It will be a four disc set with 26 episodes including 960 minutes or material. The entire final week of Bob Barker as host will be included, as will his very first episode, which has not been seen anywhere since it originally aired, except on the game show trading circuit. Bob would never let this be rerun because they gave away a fur coat. This was before he got all I love animals on us.
And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be several episodes of the original Price is Right from the 50’s and 60’s with game show legend Bill Cullen. Nice!
This announcement makes me wonder about a few things. Since Bob is no longer host of the show, has he lost control over what episodes are allowed to be released? I’m guessing he has. I’m also concerned that we might not see many episodes from Price’s best years in the 80’s, because Bob managed to have all of the original Barker’s beauties from the 80’s fired. I still love Bob, but he can be a self-centered ass.
If this DVD set does as well as the Match Game DVD set that was released (which is getting a second volume), and as well as I hope the Family Feud set does, there’s bound to be a volume two sometime down the road. I’ve pre-ordered my copy, and spade my cat.

This is pretty cool. This film called 1999 A.D. was made in 1967 and came pretty damn close to predicting the Internet! The husband is none other then legendary game show host Wink Martindale!

Tomorrow we’ll see something we haven’t seen on television since 1972. Someone else will be hosting The Price is Right. If you know me at all, you know I’m a rabid fan of this show, and wanted the job of host ever since I was four years old.
When Bob Barker announced he was retiring it took CBS forever to find a replacement, and everyone wondered who could possibly take the reins over from the man who has been hosting game shows for 50 years. Drew Carey ended up getting the job, and after seeing some video that CBS posted on You Tube, I think he’s going to do great. Even though Bob Barker is my lifetime hero, I actually believe Drew is going to put some new life into this show.
All the games are the same, but they did change the set quite a bit. They did it well though, updating it but still keeping that retro game show look. They also updated the theme song for the first time ever. It’s the same theme, just re-recorded with some added percussion and in stereo! Stereo has been around on TV’s for what now, twenty years? About time.
The “Come on Down” music has been re-done too. That’s the music they play whenever someone is called out of the audience and when they win a one-bid to go up on stage to play a pricing game. More percussion here too, but it’s still the same song they’ve been using since the mid 70’s. When the show started in ‘72 they used a different theme for this, but this version is the one everyone knows.
I’ll miss Bob, but I think the show is in good hands.
